Sapphire Creek Winery’s relationship with The Ohio Valley Group has allowed for the creation of magnificent landscapes and gardens. Each garden venue offers its own exceptional beauty.
THE GREAT LAWN
The Great Lawn is a large expanse of lush green lawn accented with delightful gardens. The Great Lawn borders the Main Terrace and is a favorite for wedding ceremonies. It easily transforms into an open-air dining venue for private parties, post-wedding brunches or corporate events. The Great Lawn is a synthetic turf so there are no mud issues.
THE MAIN TERRACE
Sapphire Creek Winery’s Main Terrace is a gorgeous, open-air, white porcelain terrace that is adjacent to the Great Lawn. The Main Terrace features a 28-foot reflecting pool with four fire bowls, creating an amazing space. The Terrace is anchored by the Woodlands Pavilion and is bordered on one side by a custom-cut Corten fence with a planting of roses at its base. The Terrace also leads guest to the lower path and additional gardens.
THE FARM GARDENS COLLECTION:
Sprinkled throughout the property are a collection of farm gardens. Our Herb Garden Boxes are located at the top of the Great Lawn and allow our Chefs and Mixologists easy access to herbs. This includes our Cocktail Garden which highlights all of the botanicals that go into a great craft cocktail. Herb-infused cocktails are our obsession: enjoy a basil mojito, a Bloody Mary with fresh cherry tomatoes, a Mint Julep with fresh, aromatic mint or lavender peach bellinis.
THE TOPIARY GARDEN
Sapphire Creek Winery features various topiaries sprinkled throughout the gardens to give a sense of whimsy. Delight in the butterfly topiaries nestled among the bushes next to the Great Lawn or let our Dragonfly topiary guide you down the path to our lower gardens. See if you can spot our dolphin poised over Sapphire’s Creek. Our angel topiary reminds us of those who have passed.
LOWER PATH GARDENS:
Take the garden path down from the Great Lawn and pass through a series of delightful gardens lush with blooming flowers. Enjoy walking the path along the meandering Sapphire Creek, complete with various waterfalls, creating a soothing and relaxing walk. Delight in two of our flower sculptures installed along the path. Different flowers dominate each season and it is difficult to pick a favorite.
CREEKSIDE OVERLOOK GARDEN:
Take a detour from your garden path journey and enjoy the Creekside Overlook. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the view out over the wetlands as well as our Firefly light installation.
BOURBON GARDEN:
Another detour along the garden path is the Bourbon Garden. Burying the bourbon is a tradition that, if done correctly, is supposed to ward off rain the day of the wedding. Those who swear by this Sapphire Creek/Southern myth state that the bride and groom-to-be must visit their venue exactly a month before the wedding date and bury a full bottle of bourbon upside down.
STONE TERRACE GARDEN:
Cross the pedestrian bridge over Sapphire ‘s Creek to our Stone Terrace Garden. Our Stone Terrace is set in the woodlands surrounded by lush landscaping. It features Edison lights strung from the trees and two large modern farm tables, as well as a fire pit area complete with Adirondack chairs. Anchoring the Stone Terrace is an outdoor kitchen complete with a large pit, perfect for a pig roast or seafood boil. The Terrace is bordered by a whimsical reed fence and custom iron gate.
